But I pray to you, O LORD... (Psalm 69:14)
I can’t see you, “But I pray to you, O LORD.” I can’t always feel you, “But I pray to you, O LORD.” I don’t always hear you, “But I pray to you, O LORD.” Sometimes your answer to my prayers is ‘no,’ “But I pray to you, O LORD.” People may mock my faith, “But I pray to you, O LORD.” Love, mercy, compassion, support for the poor, welcoming the immigrant, and protecting those on the margins are your commands and result in mockery from some, “But I pray to you, O LORD.” I may be grieving, or sinful, or fighting temptation, or full of anger, or wanting revenge, or facing tough times, and because of this, “I pray to you, O LORD.” My sisters and brothers in Christ, pray at all times! Only by talking to the LORD will we be heard! If you’re angry at God—say it! If you have little hope—say it! If you need mercy—say it! If you need guidance—say it! Speak to the LORD and you WILL be heard! Amen!
