The Lord said to her in reply,
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing.” (From Luke 10:38-42)
An election, an unstable nation, 145,000 dead from the virus, misinformation everywhere, jobs lost, friendships and families teetering, uncertainty around every turn...you’re dang right we are “anxious and worried about many things!” But, my sisters and brothers in Christ, the “one thing” that Jesus speaks of is himself and his words! Jesus is God made flesh and since God is love...there’s our one thing—LOVE! Love in our thoughts, words, and deeds! Love those who wrong you! Love those who insult you! Love those who speak ill about you behind your back! Love those who don’t believe what you believe! Love for ALL, ALL the time! When you love all, there will be no room for sin against them and against the LORD, and there certainly won’t be time for anxiety and worry if we’re filled with love! Love...it’s the “one thing” we all need more of and the “one thing” that will bring Heaven to earth! Amen
