Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth. (1 John 3:18)
Most of us know the answer to some Bible trivia...most of us know what to say...most of us know how to look the part of a churchgoer...most of us can recite the prayers or hymns on Sunday morning...most of us know how to talk the talk...but, do we love in deed? Knowing and doing are two entirely different things. Talking the talk and walking the walk are two entirely different things. Go to church or Bible study and then talk negatively about another denomination, race, political party...that would not be loving in deed. Go to church or Bible study and then refuse to serve the poor, the marginalized, the refugee, the hungry, the migrant, the thirsty, the minority...that would not be loving in deed. Let us love not just in speech, but let us put our hand to the plow and love in deed, my sisters and brothers in Christ! Amen!
